Welcome to the homepage of Wioski!
Wioski recommended version as of today is 1.1.1!
Wioski is a self-healing kiosk-computer running Windows 7. The whole project is done with standard Microsoft technologies and is distributed totally free although you do need a license for the running OS itself. The downloadable Wioski is simply a wrapper that surrounds your own WIM-file of Windows 7 OS installing it on a VHD-file and using a differencing disk for writing incremental data. If you find the project useful or develop it further we would appreciate if you let the community know also. If you need any further assistance or consultation please contact me at sami(dot)laiho(at)sovelto(dot)fi.
ATTENTION!
1. Read the manual inside the ZIP-file or download separately from the download section!
2. Read the hardware requirements!
3. Wioski is to be used with Windows 7 and it has been tested with Windows 7 Enterprise/Ultimate 32-bit versions. Booting from a VHD requires Windows 7 Enterprise or Ultimate!
4. Remember to Activate your Windows when running in maintenance mode!
5. Remember to change your maintanence users password!
Download
The files can be downloaded from the Links-section on the left side. Wioski is distributed as one single file from my companys webserver. The easiest way it to install it is using a USB-stick.
Wioski can also be installed from a DVD. The Links-section now includes a download for this purpose also. You have to download it and insert your WIM as instructions show and then use OSCDIMG.exe to create a bootable ISO. If you have trouble with this one don't hesitate to contact me. Here is an example of oscdimg.exe syntax:
"c:\Program Files\Windows AIK\Tools\amd64\oscdimg.exe" -m -n -b"c:\Program Files\Windows AIK\Tools\PETools\amd64\boot\etfsboot.com" Wioski_ver1.0_DVD c:\data\wioski.iso
Changes in Wioski 1.1.1:
1. Installation is localized for English and Finnish users
2. Users background changes so that the administrator can easily notice if the computer is running in maintenance mode
3. Windows PE uses its scratch space to save files so the installation can be done from a DVD-media
4. Check for Admin rights when running the batch files on the desktop
Wioski Process Flow can also be downloaded as a PDF-file from the Download section.
